1934- 2014 Winifred Buxton Spell passed away on August 24, 2014 at her home in Little Cypress, surrounded by her family. Winnie was born on September 15, 1934, in Tullos, Louisiana to parents Julius Madron Buxton and Mary Lou (Allbritton) Buxton. She graduated from Stark High School and attended Chenier Business School. She had a varied career, including head bookkeeper for Jack Tar Hotels. Winnie retired from Sanders and Owens in 1981 to devote her time to family and the family business, Spell's Golden Triangle Christmas Trees. She loved giving tours to school children, visiting with customers and seeing their excitement when choosing Christmas trees, riding in the wagons and feeding the donkeys, peacocks, and a varied assortment of farm animals. She loved to travel and spend time at the beach. Winnie was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mauriceville. Winnie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, daughter and friend who was loved and cherished by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Connie Hoosier, and her brothers, Vernon Buxton and Milburn Buxton. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Verley Gayle Spell; son, Mike Spell; daughters, Vicki Stoy (Joe), Jeanie Kreger (Ken), Deidra Hudson (Travis); five grandchildren; Courtney Garza (Dago), Deidra Donald (Anthony), Stephanie Kreger, Garrett Kreger (Katie) and Tiffany Martinez (Robert); four great grandchildren; Marissa, Mikayla, Dago Garza and Dixie Donald. Winnie is also survived by her sisters, Janie Krick (Bill), Beth Childers (John) and her sister-in-laws, Phyllis Buxton and Claudia Spell, and many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 from 5 pm until 9 pm at Dorman Funeral Home. A funeral service celebrating Winnie's life will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at 11 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Indian Bayou Cemetery. Winnie's family would like to express their appreciation to River City Hospice for their compassionate love and care, especially Vanecia Barlow. All our love to Missy Lee and Trudy Malone for their devotion in caring for our Mother. Special thanks to our dear friends and neighbors Wesley and Leisa Lewis for their continued help during our Mom's illness, and our cousin, Harold Allbritton for his faithful support.
