Eugene Gene LaCroix, 84, of Groves, Texas died Sunday April 19, 2009 at his residence. Gene was born February 11, 1925 in Soper, Oklahoma to Julius LaCroix and Ruth Randell LaCroix. He was a resident of Groves for 58 years and member of St. Peter Catholic Church. He retired from Gulf Oil as an instrumentation tech. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, member of the Merchant Marines and retired from the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves. He was also an active member of TAMS as a volunteer artist. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2009 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Groves with Msgr. Kenneth Greig officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday evening from 5:00p.m-8:00p.m. with a Vigil Service at 6:00 p.m.at the funeral home. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra LaCroix Lawrence; brothers Tom, Julius and Jack LaCroix. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Guidry LaCroix of Groves; sister, Christine Crews of Hugo, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Skye LaCroix and wife Beckey of Groves, Kenneth Nash, Jr. of Groves; and eight great- grandchildren.
