Danny Benkert Obituary

Benkert Danny Edwin Benkert Danny Edwin Benkert, 58, passed away on September 18, 2010 after sustaining injuries from an A TV accident. Danny was born on December 22, 1951 to E.G. and Doris Benkert originally from Groves, Tx. Danny was a 1970 graduate of Port-Neches Groves High School. He worked as an automechanic at his family's business, Benkert's Gulf in Port Arthur, for several years before working for Modica Bros. then Three-Way tires in Bridge City. He retired to Sam Rayburn Lake and resided in Bronson, Tx. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Norman and Mary Lula Daniels, parents E.G. and Doris Benkert and a nephew Curtis Price. He is survived by his sister, Lynn Benkert, his children, Chad and wife Stephanie Benkert of Port Arthur, Summer (Benkert) and husband Mark Herrington of Nederland, his niece Bridget Rasa Price of Port Acres and nephew Jason Rasa of Bridge City. He left behind four grandchildren, Beaux, Cade, Carly, and Tyce, two great-nephews, Zachery and Zane, and a special companion, Kathy Woods. Danny was a very helpful man who spent many years hunting, fishing, and golfing but more recently turned his passions toward gardening, boating, playing chess and arrowhead hunting. He will be deeply missed by many. Visitation will be on Thursday, September 23,2010 from 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Funeral Service will be at 3:00 P.M. Friday, September 24, 2010 in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
