Samuel William Bill Kerl, Jr., 95, of China, died Sunday, May 20, 2012. He was born December 24, 1916, in Houston, to Virginia Norton Kerl and Samuel William Kerl, Sr., and had been a longtime resident of China. Bill was a retired appliance repairman at Sears. He was a faithful member of Amelia Baptist Church, and an avid gardener. Survivors include his daughter, June Kerl Herrington of China; sons, Samuel William Bill Kerl III and his wife, Brenda of Kountze and James Kerl and his wife, Sylvia of China; grandchildren, Tina Kerl McDonald, Derek Kerl, Bradley Kerl, Caitlin Kerl, Joshua Kerl, and Jacob Kerl; and two great- grandchildren. Bill is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen Kerl; brother, Jack R. Kerl; and son-in-law, James Herrington. A gathering of Mr. Kerl's family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at Broussard's, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
