Guy Miller, beloved husband and father, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, July 8, 2012, at the age of 74, after a brief illness at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 12, at Adams EE Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville, with burial at Watson Chapel Cemetery in Bleakwood. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 11, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Guy was an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer and near the end of his life a farmer. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a retired supervisor for E.I. DuPont de Nemours, Inc. He was also the treasurer of the Newton County Landowner and Leaseholder Association. He was the son of J.C. and June Miller of Newton, a graduate of Newton High School, and beloved husband of Jonnie Miller and father to Danny Miller. He is survived by his wife, Jonnie of Kirbyville; son, Danny Miller and wife, Jayne of Phiadelphia, PA and Galveston, TX; grandchildren, Jaymes Miller of Millersville University and Danielle Miller of the University of Houston; brother, Herman Miller and wife, Ann of Bleakwood; sister, Sarah Richardson of Bleakwood; sister-in-law, Alice Miller of Victoria, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Causey Miller. Guy was a lover of the great outdoors and spent many hours in the woods of his beloved Newton County. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff and Dr. Viet at Jasper Memorial Hospital Emergency and to the doctors and nurses of Memorial Hermann in Houston. Their care and empathy brought comfort and solace to Guy and his family.
