R.J. Walters, 75, of Beaumont, died on Friday, August 3, 2012, at Methodist Hospital in Houston. He was born on March 18, 1937, in Honey Island, to Marie McCauly and Roman Walters. R.J. was a United States Army veteran and retired as an iron worker from Union Local #135 in Texas City. He is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Geraldine Walters; daughter, Regina Kay Walters of Houston; son, Greg Walters and his wife, Terri, of Lumberton; grandchildren, Cole Walters and Brittney Henslee, both of Lumberton; brother, Donnie Ray Walters of Kountze; sisters, Carrie Davis of Honey Island and Elizabeth Sprouse of Humble; and extended family members, Cherie Pope and Cindy Pope, both of Beaumont. A gathering of Mr. Walters' family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, August 6, 2012, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 7, 2012, at Woodland Baptist Church, 1880 West Lucas, Beaumont, with interment to follow at Antioch Cemetery, Buna.
