Wayne L. Noblitt, born April 28, 1945, the eldest son of Myrtle and Lloyd Noblitt in Ft. Oglethorpe, GA. He is preceded in death by his sister Barbara Cosby, and brother Larry Noblitt. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 27, at Adams EE Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville with burial at Kirbyville Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, Aug. 26, from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. After moving to Nederland in 1960, Wayne was active in band, attending the inauguration of John F. Kennedy with the Nederland High School Band and marched with the band during halftime at the Houston Oilers home games. As a member of troop 52, he obtained the rank of Eagle Scout, God and Country, and the Order of the Arrow. Upon graduation, Wayne joined the Navy, and served with the USMC in Viet Nam as a corpsman until being wounded during fighting near the DMZ in 1966. He received several commendations and the Purple Heart. Because of his love of emergency training and experience, Wayne received his RN from Tyler College, and later received in BSN from UT Austin. He is survived by his parents, Myrtle and Lloyd Noblitt of Kirbyville; son, Donny Christian and wife D'Ann of Hemphill; nieces Karen Barrier and husband Destry; Michelle Gaisser and husband Kevin; nephews John Cosby and Alan Noblitt and wife Amy; sister-in-law, Donna Noblitt of Beaumont.
