Carolyn Reaves Gillmore was born on September 1, 1939 in Beaumont, Texas to French Reaves and Margaret Beavers Reaves. She died on October 31, 2012. She graduated from high school in China, Texas and then attended Baylor University, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1961. After working at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, she attended Washington University in St. Louis and earned a Master of Science in Nursing in 1967. She then taught at Baylor University School of Nursing as Assistant Professor for two years. After moving to Austin, Texas in 1970, she was on the staff of the University of Texas School of Nursing for 20 years, retiring as Director of Continuing Education. Carolyn married David Gillmore on August 9, 1969 and spent the next 43 years sharing their many interests and just enjoying being together. In addition to their many trips, she enjoyed quilting, reading, playing dominos with friends, and volunteering at her church library. Carolyn accepted Christ as her Savior at the age of 7 and never doubted where she would spend eternity. Church and her faith always played an important role in her life and she was active in Austin Baptist Church, Hyde Park Baptist Church and Community Bible Study. She was an active member of the Faith Builders Bible Fellowship class of Austin Baptist Church during the last years of her life. Carolyn's life was exemplified by the love for her Lord and the love for her family. She volunteered in many areas of her church and was a blessing to all of those who came in contact with her. Even though she was a working Mom, she always took the time to teach and train her children in Christian principles. She modeled those behaviors that she wanted her children to follow. She is survived by her husband, David, stepdaughter, Gayle Crichton of Aurora, CO, stepson, Greg Gillmore of Austin, TX, son Mark and his wife, Carianne of Leander, TX, five grandchildren: Shauna Lynch, Justin Gillmore, Megan Crichton, Ethan Gillmore, Connor Gillmore and three great grandchildren: Ryan Patrick, Shannon Louise and Austin Edwin Lynch. A memorial service will be held at Austin Baptist Church, 7016 Ribelin Ranch Drive, Austin, TX 78750, on November 10th at 10:00 a.m. followed by a reception at the church.
