David J Bailey of Baton Rouge, Louisiana died in his home on Monday, November 5, 2012. Born in Beaumont, Texas, August 10, 1953, to Dr. P.W. Bailey and Joyce Mallin Bailey, David received twin Bachelor Degrees in Chemistry and Biology in 1978 from Lamar University in Beaumont. David served thirteen years in the U.S. Army as a Captain in the Fourth Armored Division at Fort Hood, Texas. His civilian career most recently included a position as the national sales manager for network systems for GE Information Technology Systems in Minneapolis. David was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially in the frozen winters in Minnesota. He moved to Baton Rouge to be closer to his family. David is survived by his sons Janson, Joshua, and Christopher Bailey and stepson Alexander Springer; brother Jeffrey Bailey and his wife Peggy and their daughters Lauren, Jamie, and Kaitlyn of Beaumont, Texas; sister Laura and her husband Edward DeWeese and their two children Nathan and Sarah of Zachary, Louisiana; sister Susan and her husband Bob Wilson and their two children Josh and Caroline of Southlake, Texas; sister Shellie Bailey of Austin, Texas, and her two daughters Samantha and Alexandria; brother Bill Bailey and his wife Gabrielle Nikolin of Parker, Texas; and brother Don Vanderburg of Austin, Texas. David also leaves behind many of his ATO fraternity brothers from his college days at Lamar University. A private family Military memorial service was held November 8, 2012, at the Port Hudson National Cemetery in Zachary, Louisiana In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gigofund.org, which is an organization for Veterans help as they return home.
