Anita Louise Clifton, 86, Beaumont, Texas passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at her home after a lengthy illness. She will be remembered as a dedicated teacher and counselor who touched the lives of hundreds of students. She retired in 1981 as a counselor in the Beaumont Independent School District. Anita was also well known for her artistic and creative talents. She thoroughly enjoyed helping her neighbors and friends decorate their homes and landscape their yards. Anita loved nature with its beautiful flowers and landscapes. She doted on her pets and wild birds that she fed daily. Anita was preceded in death by her parents, Ellis and Lavenia Johnson and sisters, Velma Harris and Annie Johnson. Anita is survived by her devoted husband, Harold Clifton; sister, Isabel Williams; nephew and his wife, Alvin & Pauline Roberts of San Antonio, Texas; and a loving host of relatives and friends. Celebration of Life services for Anita will be Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. James United Methodist Church, 2485 Blanchette St. in Beaumont. Viewing will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service on Wedenesday morning. Entombment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery & Mausoleum, 2291 Pine St. in Beaumont under the professional care and direction of Comeaux Community Funeral Chapel & staff.
