Elizabeth Liz Myers Melanson, 59, of Beaumont, died Thursday, December 13, 2012, at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, Houston. She was born on February 17, 1953, in Crowley, Louisiana, to Lillian and Martin Myers, and had been a resident of Beaumont since 2002. She was a P.E.I.M.S. Secretary with Beaumont Independent School District. She loved spending time with her grandkids, family, cats, and reading books. Liz was an elder's wife and enjoyed being actively involved in church work. She also loved music, singing, and was a participant in the annual Messiah Chorus at McNeese State University. Liz is survived by her husband of forty years, James Jim B. Melanson, Jr. of Beaumont; daughters, Lana Camille Rodriguez and her husband, Jude, of Beaumont; Sara Lyn Horan and her husband, Joseph, of Americus, Georgia; and Emma Ruth Melanson of Beaumont; grandchildren, Elijah Jude Rodriguez, Zoe Camille Rodriguez, Noah Thomas Rodriguez, Anna Elizabeth Rodriguez, Ella Grace Horan, and Ruby Mae Horan; sister, Carol Myers Moser; and mother-in-law, Ruby Melanson. She is preceded in death by her father, Martin Myers; brother, Monte Jay Myers; foster mother, Orisca Boudreaux; and father-in-law, J.B. Melanson, Sr. A gathering of Mrs. Melanson's family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, December 16, 2012, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 17, 2012, at Ridgewood Church of Christ, 2455 Commerce Street, Beaumont. Her graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m., at Prien/Highland Memorial Park, 6325 Common Street, Lake Charles, Louisiana. Memorial contributions may be made to Camp Red Oaks Springs, P.O.
