Leo F. Luquette, Sr., quietly passed from this life to the next on February 14, 2013, following a brief illness. A native and lifelong resident of Beaumont, he was born on March 6, 1928, to Dora Price Luquette and A.J. Luquette, Sr. Leo graduated from St. Anthony High School in 1945 and served in the United States Navy being honorably discharged in December 1947. He worked at Pure Oil upon returning from the service and went to work at Gulf States Utilities Company. It was in downtown Beaumont that he met his wife, Pat. Leo returned to college receiving his electrical engineering degree from Lamar University in 1959. He retired from Mobil Chemical Company in Beaumont and continued a very active life. Leo loved building things, fishing, traveling, and golf when he could fit it into his schedule. He was a volunteer for Some Other Place for a number of years delivering meals with his wife to the needy. Leo adored his three grandchildren, Heather, Connor, and Courtlyn and had many fun times playing, fishing, traveling and talking with them. Leo is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Pat; son, Leo Jr. of Monument, Colorado; daughter, Karen Hanson and her husband, David, of Coppell, Texas; grandchildren, Heather Luquette, Connor Hanson, and Courtlyn Hanson; very special daughter-in-law, Anna Luquette of Austin; brothers, A.J. Luquette of Amarillo; and Edward Luquette and his wife, Lillie, of Fannett; sisters, Loretta of Beaumont and Estelle Etie and her husband, Galen, of Beaumont; along with numerous nieces and nephews. A Christian Vigil for Mr. Luquette will begin at 6:00 p.m., today, Monday, February 18, 2013, with a gathering of his family and friends to follow until 8:00 p.m., at Broussard's, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica, 700 Jefferson Street, Beaumont, with interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont.
