Jack Thompson, 84, was born May 16, 1928 in Beaumont, TX to Rayburn and Winnie Sonnier Thompson and passed away February 17, 2013 in Beaumont. Mr. Thompson was an evangelist for the Church of Christ for many years in various locations and a long-time resident of Vidor, TX. He was an effective communicator, an outstanding Bible student, and a life-long servant of God. He influenced many people to become Christians and was a mentor to young preachers. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 21 at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home with Mr. Mark Legendre and Mr. Fred Stacey officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Cemetery in Pt. Neches. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife, Lewanda June (Daw) Thompson; daughters, Jacquelyn LaRue and husband, Alan of Baytown, Junelle Gatza and husband, Ted, of Vidor and son, Jimmy Thompson of Carrollton; grandchildren, Adam LaRue and wife, Ashley, Jesse LaRue and wife, Amber, Jenna Campbell and husband, Jacob, and Joanna Crueger and husband, Michael; great-grandson to be, Jackson Campbell; brother-in-law, Cooper Daw and wife, Ruth, and his uncle, John L. Lambert. he was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Wandalynn Thompson.
