John S. Morgan, 84, of Beaumont, went to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, February 23, 2013. He was born on July 2, 1928, in Beaumont, to Bertha Slaughter Morgan and John Sam Morgan. Mr. Morgan graduated from Beaumont High School and went to work at Magnolia Refinery in 1946. In 1973, he was the first employee on the payroll for Velsicol Chemical in the purchasing department during construction and start up. He retired from Sandoz Agro in 1992 as purchasing department manager. Velsicol and Sandoz are now known as BASF. John served as choir director at Victory Temple for approximately ten years and served as an elder at Cathedral in the Pines for fourteen years. He was a board member of Mobil Credit Union, president and board member of the BPM Club, president of Sabine Neches Association of Purchasing Management, chairman of National Chemical Purchasing Conference, and member of Rotary Club of Beaumont. Survivors include his wife, Audrey Puckitt Morgan; children, Sharon McWilliams and her husband, Joey, of Mont Belvieu; J. Keith Morgan and his wife, Wanda, of Sour Lake; and Lisa Parigi and her husband, Sam C., Jr. of Beaumont; grandchildren, Michele Petty, Carrie Morgan Maggard, Christy Morgan Van Horn, Clay McWilliams, and Haley McWilliams; and great-grandchildren, Lauren Maggard, Brennan Maggard, Kaydance Van Horn, and Blake Maggard. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Karen Ann Morgan; sisters, Opal Morgan Turnage, Margaret Morgan St. Clergy, and Eubern Morgan Carver. A gathering of Mr. Morgan's family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, February 25, 2013, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at Victory Temple, 2630 South 11th Street, Beaumont, with a committal service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Little Hope Cemetery, near Jasper. Serving as pallbearers will be Clay McWilliams, Eric Van Horn, Jake Maggard, Kenny Whatley, Gary Turnage, and Charles W. McIntosh. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Bradshaw, Al Richardson, Bob Morgan, Jerry Waldrop, Roy Culver, and Marvin Fannin. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to School of Christ International, 2630 South 11th Street, Beaumont, Texas 77701 or .
