J.T. Burris, 90, of Port Acres, died Monday, February 25, 2013, at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas, Port Arthur. He was born December 7, 1922, to Laura Pearl Allen and Jay C. Burris. J.T. was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in World War II. He worked as a welder for Texaco and retired after thirty-one years of employment. J.T. was a longtime Deacon at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Port Acres and was always involved in church. In his spare time, J.T. enjoyed gardening. He is survived by his loving wife of seventy years, Marjorie Burris of Port Acres; daughter, Carolyn Webb and her husband, Dr. Don Webb, of Bridge City; sons, Jerry Burris and his wife, Judy, of Fannett; Ron Burris and his wife, Karen, of Port Arthur; and Randy Burris and his wife, Sheila, of Port Acres; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; sister, Ruby Jenkins of Victoria; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends. J.T. is preceded in death by his parents, Jay and Laura Burris; and brothers, Allen and Alton Burris. A gathering of Mr. Burris' family and friends will begin at 11:00 a.m. with his funeral to follow at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 28, 2013, at Broussard's, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland.
