Curtis Breaux Obituary

Curtis R. Breaux, 68, of Port Acres, died Monday, April 8, 2013, at Christus Hospital, St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. He was born December 3, 1944, in Port Arthur, to Mary Bourgeious Breaux and Ray Breaux, and had been a lifelong resident of the area. Curtis was a United States Army veteran. Before his retirement, he worked at Texaco and also as an insurance salesman. Curtis' main joys in life were spending time with his family and entertaining with many bands throughout his life as a musician. He was recognized most recently for playing with his Cajun band, Curtis Breaux and the Cadillacs. Curtis also enjoyed going to the casino and he especially loved being a part of his grandchildren's lives and participating in their activities. He was a good natured man who was talented, generous, loving, caring, and full of life. His hobby was giving his time to other people. Curtis is survived by his wife, Pat Breaux; children, Dwayne Breaux and his wife, Lisa, of Fannett and Steven Breaux and his wife, Nicky, of Clear Lake; grandchildren, Alex Breaux, Lauren Breaux, Kaylee Breaux, Bailey Breaux, and Carson Breaux; sisters, Mary Ellen Weisse and her husband, Jerry, of Hamshire; Lisa Diaz and her husband, Robert, of Groves; and Denise LeTulle of Austin; father-in-law, Cleve Savoy of Port Arthur; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kirk Breaux; and mother-in-law, Genevieve Savoy. A gathering of Mr. Breaux's family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at Broussard's, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 11, 2013, at St. Therese the Little Flower of Jesus Catholic Church, 6412 Garnet Avenue, Port Acres, with Reverend Rejimon George, C.M.I. officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches. Complete and updated information may be found at: broussards1889.com.

I remember the good times when I watched Dwayne & Stephen when Curtis & Pat went out on Friday & Saturday Nights for Curtis to play in the band. When I got older I heard him play and sing. WOW! What a talent that will be missed. Pat & family my thoughts & prayers will be with you.

My heart breaks for each of you in your loss of Curtis. He was funny, kind and always had a helping hand to lend. He was also full of bs and always made me laugh. I will surely miss his Spirit though I know his Spirit will live on in his family. I'm thinking of and praying for each of you.

Sorry to hear about Curtis. I was looking at Facebook and had a friend that had posted up about a friend of hers. Looked at the obits to find out about her friend and saw Curtis' obit. So sorry and my prayers are with you, Pat and your family. Helen Hyde Begnaud.
