Alfred Mr. Speck Lockard, 89, of China, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont. He was born on May 11, 1923, in Hull, to Vinnie Turner Lockard and John C. Lockard, and had been a lifelong resident of the area. Alfred was a United States Navy veteran, having served in World War II; and was a retired assistant shop superintendent for Dollinger Steel. He is survived by his sons, John Charles Lockard and his wife, Lucy, of China and Bobby Joe Lockard and his wife, Tami, of Sour Lake; grandchildren, Joni Lockard of Winnie and her boyfriend, Jordan May, of Nederland; Emily Furry and her husband Russ, of Sugar Land; Aaron Lockard and his wife, Tonia; and Meagan Parker and her husband, Matt, all of Sour Lake; great-granddaughter, Kylie Marie Lockard; and numerous nieces and nephews. Alfred is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lockard; parents; and brother, Otis J. Lockard. A gathering of Mr. Lockard's family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, May 12, 2013, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 13, 2013, at Broussard's, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
