Ernest Emmerson Hauver, Jr., 89, of Beaumont, died Sunday, July 21, 2013, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. A native and lifelong resident of Beaumont, he was born on April 12, 1924, to Mattie Hill Hauver and Ernest E. Hauver, Sr. Mr. Hauver was retired from Singer Sewing Machine Company having served as their store manager in Beaumont for many years. He then went on to repair sewing machines in his free time for many years. After his retirement from Singer, he opened Ernest's Mobil Oil Service Station on 11th Street in Beaumont. Mr. Hauver also worked many years for Broussard's Mortuary in various capacities. His friendly face often greeted people as they entered Broussard's at many of their locations, and his friendly smile and courteous way always made difficult times easier for all. He and his wife, Lee Ora, spent many good times traveling across the United States in their Airstream travel trailer along with their many friends in the local TAHI Airstream club. Survivors include stepchildren, Brenda Jackson and her husband, Ron; Buzz Long and his wife, Cathy, all of Beaumont; Candy Lee and her husband, John, of Kingwood; and Stephanie Meadows and her husband, Tom, of Warren; grandchildren, Matt Jackson, Amanda Lee, Stewart Jackson, Vance Long, Scott Long, John Edward Lee, Christine Lee, and Thomas Meadows; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by nieces, Darlene Favre and her husband, Joe, of Lumberton and Nancy Bechtel Davison of Clifton; and numerous other nieces and nephews. Mr. Hauver was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Eula Mae Hauver; and his second wife, Lee Ora Hauver; two sisters, Madelyn Schuldt and Dorothy Bechtel; and his granddaughter, Michelle Meadows. A gathering of Mr. Hauver's family and friends will be from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., Friday, July 26, 2013, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 27, 2013, at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 1350 North 23rd Street, Beaumont, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
