Charles Prevost Obituary

1929 - 2015 Charles Henry Prevost, 86, of Beaumont, died Friday, March 13, 2015, at Summer Place Nursing and Rehabilitation, Beaumont. He was born on January 6, 1929, in Nome, to Helen and Charles Prevost. Charles, known to his friends as C.H. or Charlie, lived most of his boyhood years in Nome. He worked in the rice fields with his father and other family members. Charles graduated from Anahuac High School and made his way to Texas A&M University during his early college years. On February 26, 1949, Charles married Verna Manuel, of Eunice, Louisiana, and later they moved to Beaumont where he began work with Texas Eastern. Charlie worked as an instrument technician then Instrumentation Supervisor at Mobil Chemical until his retirement in 1990. He remained a loving husband for sixty-six years of marriage. Charlie, a devoted father and grandfather, is survived by his sons, Gerry Wayne Prevost and his wife, Mary Kay; Dale Charles Prevost and his wife, Beth; and Gregory Keith Prevost and his wife, Paula; grandchildren, Charles Emmett Prevost, Alisha Kay Prevost, Coby Dale Prevost, Cory Lee Prevost, Carisa Patrice Prevost, Gregory K. Prevost II, Makayla Jeanne Prevost, and Kimberla Ashton Prevost; eight great-grandchildren; and sisters, Beverly (Belle) Weaver of Winnie and Karen Cormier of Lufkin. He is preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Wilma Leger. Charlie was always the lifting spirit at all family and social gatherings. He loved to joke and laugh along with his family and friends. Charlie was an avid dancer and enjoyed many nights of dancing the two-step and square dancing. Dancing was not his only favorite past time, golf was a favorite sport also and he enjoyed playing with his Mobil family, various regular golfing buddies, and his sons. Moving to Harlingen was another high point in Charlie's life. There he enjoyed his retirement and the friendship of many from other states. Many memories were made in this community as well as close friends. Charles was an active member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church and St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church. He was devout in his religion and always looking for the right answers. Charles seldom missed a Mass and being close to God was the most important part of his life. We will remember the times shared with Charlie and remember the sincerity of his quiet conversations with each of us. There never was a cross or condemning word spoken to any of his children whenever we were in times of spiritual need. Charles Henry Prevost filled our lives with his kindness, wise words, and love. We cherish knowing him as our Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Friend. A gathering of Mr. Prevost's family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with his Rosary recited at 6:30 p.m., Sunday, March 15, 2015, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m., Monday, March 16, 2015, at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 6825 Gladys Avenue, Beaumont.
