Larry Bottoms Obituary

1961 - 2017 Age 55 Funeral services for Mr. Larry Bottoms will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at 2:00p.m. at First Baptist Church in Jewett. Bro. Allen Crosby and Bro. Billy Bob Evans will officiate. Interment will follow the services at Sardis Cemetery. A Rosary service will be held beginning at 6:00p.m. on Monday at Ricks-Bowers Funeral Home and visitation will be held following the Rosary until 8:00p.m. Larry Bottoms was called home to dance with his Momma in Heaven on Friday, May 26, 2017. He was an inspiration to so many as he fought long and hard with his battle against cancer. He was born in Huntsville, Texas on July 20, 1961. He grew up in Los Alamos, NM before moving to Jewett during middle school. He graduated from Leon High School with the class of 1979. Larry served in the U.S. Air Force and was a Survival Instructor. After his service, he completed his Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University. Larry worked for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice at Eastham, Michael, Hightower, Stiles and LeBlanc Units promoting through the security ranks to Major before retiring with over twenty years of service. Larry was known for his sense of humor, wit and his ability to pull numerous practical jokes on friends and family. His personality would light up a room and draw people to him. He loved to make people laugh and even did so in his last days. Larry enjoyed fishing, hunting, snow skiing and being in the mountains. He was an avid sports fan, especially football. He loved watching his favorite NFL teams, as well as his college team, the Texas Aggies. He also enjoyed and looked forward to raising cattle with his father on the Bottoms family land near Jewett. He is survived by his wife, Emily Fore Bottoms of Jewett; three daughters, Lauren Bottoms, Missy Bottoms, and Cassidy Bottoms all of Beaumont; one son, Logan Bottoms of Beaumont; two step sons, James Bond & wife Ashley and their daughter Alyssa of Sugar Land, and Hunter Bond & wife Brittany and their son Brayden of Port Neches; his father, Paul Bottoms of Jewett; two sisters, Cathy Bottoms of Houston and Angela Zientek & husband Jimmy of Round Rock; one brother, Ron Bottoms & wife Carmen of La Porte; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. I worked with Larry in Colorado Springs. Almost everyday, one of his pant legs would get caught in his boots, which reminded me of the character Andy Taylor on the Andy Griffith show. So I was always calling him Andy.
