PERRYSVILLE, Ohio — Sylvia A. "Rusty" Caldwell Wissler, 76, of Pleasant Hill Lake, Perrysville, died Tuesday morning, May 20, 2014 in Hospice of North Central Ohio, Ashland following a courageous battle with acute lymphocytic leukemia. Rusty was born March 20, 1938 in Washington DC and was the daughter of the late Oscar and Ella (Barber) Marsh. She was a 1956 graduate of Cincinnati Withrow High School and a 1960 graduate of Wittenberg University with a BS in education. She was an Adaptive Physical Education teacher and track coach for 28 years at Ferguson Junior High School of Beavercreek, retiring in 1989. She was a resident of Beavercreek for many years before moving to Pleasant Hill Lake in 1989. Rusty loved sports, gardening, the outdoors, and teaching synchronized swimming, but always found the time for the most important things in her life, her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Loudonville United Methodist Church and the Progress Club of Loudonville. She is survived by 3 sons: Raymond F. (Lisa) Caldwell of Westlake Village, CA, Bernard (LeeAnn) Caldwell of Wooster, Edwin (Loretta) Caldwell of Bernardsville, NJ; 2 step-daughters: Debbie (Chris) Hawkins of Louisville, KY, and Kathy (Matt) Bratton of Brecksville; 3 step-sons: Scott (Nancy) Wissler of Aurora, CO, Jeff (Kaye) Wissler of Kent, and James Wissler of Wheatridge, CO; 10 grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; and 3 step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her first husband, Paul S. Caldwell on June 4, 1997, and her second husband, Robert L. Wissler on Tuesday, May 20, 2014. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 12:00 Noon in Loudonville United Methodist Church with Rev. Bob Mitchell officiating. Private burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, Franklin, PA. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 5700 Brecksville Rd., 3d Floor, Independence, OH 44131, or Loudonville United Methodist Church, 124 N.
