James "Fuzzy"� Edward Dalton, 80, of Big Island, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012 at the Summit Health & Rehab in Forest. He was born on July 18, 1932, in Bedford County, a son of the late Russell Patterson Dalton and Dora Brown Dalton. Fuzzy served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Hunting Creek Baptist Church and VFW Post #2157. He was a retired mill operator for Rubatex Corp. Fuzzy enjoyed fishing, sports, and especially watching "Big Island" ball games. In addition to his parents, Fuzzy was preceded in death by two brothers, Russell Dalton, Jr. and David Dalton; and a sister, Charlotte Shuff. Fuzzy is survived by his wife of 57 years, Doris Jean Smith Dalton; a daughter, Kim Reynolds and her husband, Philip; sisters-in-law, Norma Thompson and Gloria "Sally"� Cheatham and her husband, Robert, brothers-in-law, Nelson Smith and Gerald "Sam"� Smith; a niece, Brenda Thompson and her husband, Warren; and a special nephew, Russell Dalton and his wife, Jan. Memorial contributions may be made to Hunting Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, 15455 Big Island Hwy, Big Island, VA 24526. The family extends a special thank you to the doctors and staff at the Summit Health & Rehab and Lynchburg Nephrology as well as the nurses and technicians at UVA Dialysis Center. A celebration of Fuzzy's life was conducted at 2 pm, Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012 at Hunting Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Carey C. Snellings officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
