Frank T. Thomas

Frank T. Thomas, 93, Montvale On Dec. 27, 2012, Heaven’s Gate opened wide to welcome a true Hero, Frank Tyler (Buster or Buck) Thomas, 93, of Montvale. He was a WWII Veteran serving in the U. S. Navy in the Pacific Theater, a retired truck driver with Jones Motor Lines, and a retired School Bus Driver with the Bedford County Schools. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Ave Thomas; step-mother, Mamie Thomas; brother, O. L. Thomas; sister, Virginia Anders; and a special aunt, Ida Turner. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Hazel M. Thomas; four children and spouses, James Thomas, Donna Thomas, Teresa Andrews, Darrell Thomas; nine grandchildren including a special caregiver, Billi Jo Asbury; 17 great grandchildren including his best buddy, Dylan Fink; two sisters, Irene Webster, Beverlyne Prillaman; and numerous nieces and nephews including Jerry, Barry, and Benny Webster. The family wishes to express a special thanks to the Doctors and Nurses on the 10th floor of the Palliative Care Unit at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospitalfor the care given to Frank and his family. A funeral service was held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012 at Oakey’s East Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Moore officiating. Interment will followed in the Prillaman Family Cemeteryin Callaway with Military Honors by the U. S. Navy. Arrangements by Oakey’s East Chapel, 540-977-3909.
