Glenwood Brown

Glenwood “Brownie” Brown, age 69 of the Scruggs Community went to be with his Lord, surrounded by his family, Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012. He was born Sept. 7, 1943 a son of the late Grover F. and Nannie Pasley Brown. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Christine Cable and Shelby Witt; a brother and sister-in-law, Harold Arnett and Christine Brown. Brownie loved life to the fullest and loved so many. He never meet a stranger and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a very loving man, strict but fair. He strived to always be his best and never settled for less and expected the same from his family and friends. He was the founder and co-owner of Brownies Auto Parts and Hardware in 1972. Surviving are his wife, Agnes Brown; daughter, Annette Brown Patrick; granddaughter, Ashley Patrick (papa’s buddy); sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn Bowles and Hanel; brothers-in-law, Sherman Cable and Billy Witt (Phyllis); a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins along with many special friends too numerous to mention. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wed. at Mt. Ivy Christian Church with Steve Pasley, Minister officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. The family would like to especially thank Dairy Queen in Westlake and Scruggs Fire and Rescue for all their generosity. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Scruggs Fire and Rescue or Mt. Ivy Christian Church. His family will receive friends 6-9 pm Tuesday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
