James Vance Scott, 93 of Fayetteville, NC passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at the Elks National Home in Bedford. He was born on March 28, 1919 in Fayetteville, NC. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Scott and a son, Charles V. Scott. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in NC. He loved his church and was dedicated to his family and friends. He was a loving husband and caring father. He was a member of the Knights of Phythias, where he served as Grand Chancellor Knights of Phythias Lodge of NC. He received the Knights of the Golden Spur award and the Governor's award. He was the 100th Grand Chancellor of the Lodge of NC. He was an Army

. He was a member of the Elks National Lodge. He will be remembered as a gentleman who was kind, dependable and honest. He is survived by a daughter, Ann Cook and husband, Keith Cook of Bedford, a grandson, Brian K. Cook and his wife, Ginger and granddaughter, Lauren of Roanoke; two sisters, Katherine Baird of Lumberton, NC and Ann Tolar of Goldsboro, NC and many great nieces and nephews. A service was held at the First Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville, NC on March 29 with military honors. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at the Elks National Home and especially to the Special Care for his excellent care.
