Jerrel W. Carter

Jerrel William Carter, 80 of Bedford, passed away Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013 at Bedford Memorial Hospital. He was born on Wednesday, March 23, 1932 in Bedford County, a son of the late William Davis Carter and Lillian Pink Robertson Carter. He was a retired employee of the Virginia Department of Transportation and was a member of Cool Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was also a veteran of the U. S. Army. Surviving is his wife, Helen Widner Carter; a son, David William Carter, Sr. and wife, Loretta of Bedford; two daughters, Katherine Louise Carter and husband, Randy of Thaxton, Carolyn Sue Carter and husband, Otey of Bedford; a sister, Eleanor Lorene Amos of Bedford as well as five grandchildren and five great grandchildren and a special dog, Coco. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013 at 2 PM at Cool Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Larry Myers and Rev. Earl Ragland officiating. Interment will follow in Peaks Presbyterian Church and Community Cemetery. Arrangements by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
