Juanita S. Wheeler

Juanita St.Clair “Corky” Wheeler, 84, of the Shady Grove community passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2013. She was cared for in her home, as that was her final wishes and was surrounded by her family and friends. Born July 14, 1928, she was the youngest daughter of Solomon C. B. and Eula White St. Clair who predeceased her. She was also predeceased by 9 of her sisters, Geneva Tench, Gloria Matthews, Leona Bonjonia, Imo Tyler, Virginia Norman, Mary Whitmore, Mirla Bonjonia, Pauline Fletcher and Shirley Burnette. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Lynwood H. (Jack) Wheeler and their children, Dale C. Wheeler, Jane Moore and husband JT, and David Wheeler. Also survived by her grandchildren, Shane Wheeler, Christina Wheeler, John Moore and wife Jessica, Jenny Moore and Gabriel Wheeler. She is survived by one sister, Lucille Caniff, her nephew Berkley Matthews and nieces Connie Scarrow and Nancy Falwell plus numerous cousins, brothers in law, sisters in law and many special friends. Mrs. Wheeler was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher for 16 years, was a member of the WMU. For over 10 years she quilted with the WMU ladies. She and her husband served as managers of the Shady Grove Cemetery. She was also a Support Member of the Shady Grove Fire and Rescue helping to bring that service into the community as well as working bake sales or selling raffle tickets on the quilts she had helped make to raise funds for the unit. Mrs. Wheeler held a wealth of information on the St.Clair, Wheeler and White genealogies and could always give you a detailed description of who's related to whom in any family in the local area. We often joked that she could figure a way in which everyone was related to everyone. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at Shady Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Mitchell and Rev. Jesse Chance officiating. While flowers are appreciated, please consider making a donation to Shady Grove Fire & Rescue in her memory. The family would like to thank everyone who has helped with her care over the past few months. Whether you took time to come sit with her during the day, prepared food or stopped by for a short visit, it was greatly appreciated. Thanks to everyone that helped make her remaining days a bit brighter and gave the family much needed support. Thank you to Medi Home Health & Hospice also.
