Nancy Sue Jenkins Toms, 69, of Bedford, died Sunday, June 9, 2013. She was born in Bedford County on June 5, 1944, a daughter of the late Ernest Benjamin Jenkins and Martha Krantz Jenkins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Burkley Steveins Jenkins. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Curtis Wendell Toms, Sr. and by her children Danna Crystal Toms Lowe; Rocky Lowe; Donna Sue Toms Gish and husband, Mark, Sr.; Deborah Lynne Toms Smith and husband, Ricky; Curtis Wendall Toms, Jr. and wife, Lisa. She is also survived by her grandchildren Laura Nash, Roxy Lowe, Mark Gish, Jr., Sgt. Christopher Gish, Rachel Gish, Micah Gish, Robert Smith, Codey Toms, and Cheyanne Toms as well as her great-grandchildren Savannah, Lincoln, Hailee, Aiden, Evelyn, Grayson, and Sarge; her brother, Benjamin Rucker Jenkins and wife, Faye; and numerous friends and coworkers. She was retired from Woodhaven Nursing Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials are made to Burch-Messier Funeral Home for Nancy Toms. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, June 14, 2013 at Burch-Messier Walnut Street Chapel, 1235 Walnut Street, Bedford with Rev. Walter Beasley officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church Cemetery with a celebration of life to follow.
