Richard L. Dooley

Richard Lewis Dooley, 74, of Bedford, Virginia, beloved husband and best friend of Rita (Holt) for 53 years, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 20, 2013. Born in Bedford in 1939 and born again in 1953. Besides his wife, Rita, He was survived by his daughters, Adina Massie and Angela Cutler and her husband, Michael Cutler; grandchildren, Zachary Massie and Sydney Cutler, his sisters, Ruby Key and Betty Miller; a brother, Willie Ray “Snookie” Dooley. He graduated from Montvale High School as class president; joined the National Guard during his senior year; discharged with honors and presented with a Bible as he approached Bible College; attended Piedmont Bible College. His ministry began at Grace Memorial Baptist Church; became the first Sunday School teacher, first youth director and became first pastoral student; reorganized/reopened 12 churches; pastored established churches for 40 years; taught at Marietta Bible College; and many were called to preach under his leadership. He was host and co-host of many trips to Israel, worked with Snap-On Tools and Ford Motor Company with high positions offered; General Manager of Holy Land USA for 27 years where 500,000 people visited and thousands of salvations professed. We thank God for the gift of his life and the many who were touched by his life and testimony. A memorial service will be held to celebrate his life on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at 11 am at Word of Life Evangelical Church with a graveside service to follow.
