Robert â€œBobbyâ€ Hamilton, 65, of Bedford, slipped quietly away into the loving arms of Jesus, on Oct. 18, 2012 at Bedford Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Amherst, on Oct. 20, 1946 to Dudley and Rosa (Johns) Hamilton. Bobby was retired from Schewels Furniture where he worked as a Truck Driver. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Bedford. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Lonnie and Curtis Hamilton. Surviving is his wife, Shirley Overstreet Hamilton; three brothers, James â€œJimmyâ€ of Buena Vista; Dudley of Lynchburg; and Charlie of South Carolina; two sisters, Betty Branham of Monroe and Minnie Pearl Clark of Lynchburg and his best friend Sam â€œPeeweeâ€ Overstreet. Also surviving is one son, Robert â€œBobbyâ€ of King George; a stepson Chester â€œJimmyâ€ Bowling Jr. of Bedford; three stepdaughters; Diane West (Sammie) of Grit; Judy Agee of Thaxton; Melissa Dishman (Jim) of Lynchburg and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren. Funeral Services were held on Sunday Oct. 21, 2012 at 3 pm at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford. Interment followed at Holy Land USA Cemetery, Dickerson Mill Rd, Bedford.
