Allen Woodrow Parker, 82, of Thaxton, died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013. He was born in Bedford County on March 2, 1931 a son of the late Preston Henry Parker and Judson Overstreet Parker. Allen was retired from the City of Bedford Public Works Dept. and a member of Cool Spring Pentecostal Holiness Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death, by his wife, Elizabeth Welch Parker, two sons, Allen Parker, Jr. and Frank Parker. He is survived by a son, Henry Parker; a daughter, Connie P. Akers and husband Ron; a brother, Buford Parker; a sister, Frances Amos; grandchildren, Brian Parker, Wendi St. Clair, Amanda Johns, Mary Akers, Preston Parker, Lee Parker and Angie Penn; eight great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Cool Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church, 3453 Buffalo Run Rd., Thaxton, VA 24174. A funeral service was held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Au. 27, 2013 at Cool Spring Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Larry Myers officiating. Burial will followed in the Parker Family Cemetery.
