Benjamin Boan Brown of Marietta, Georgia and formerly of Bedford died on May 17, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. Ben was born in Bedford, on March 21, 1945. He graduated from Bedford High School and Bridgewater College. His work with State Farm and Westinghouse took him to Washington D.C., Atlanta, Columbia S.C., Miami, and back to Atlanta where he met and married Angel Brown who survives. They made their home in Marietta. Ben was predeceased by his parents Hagerman Brown and Maria Boan Brown and his brother H. Channing Brown. In addition to his wife, he is survived by her children Katherine Fakhori and husband Mike and Bobby Shively and wife Shannon. He was the loving "Ahgong" to Elizabeth, Johnathan and William Fakhori and Logan and Emma Shively. Ben is also survived by his brother, Peyton Goolrick Brown and his wife Gail, two nieces Jennifer Heber-Brown and husband Enrico and son Luca, Susan Brown Cole and husband Alden and sons, Brewer and Peyton, two nephews Eric Channing Brown and Mark Vernon Brown and wife Laura. A memorial service was held on May 19, 2014 at Christ Lutheran Church of Marietta, Georgia with Dr. Rusty Edwards presiding. Ben was thankful for his life and his many memories of family and friends and his "beloved Virginia." In his words read at the service: "I want to take this final opportunity...to acknowledge the blessings God bestowed on me and to thank Him for the special gifts that He made part of my life." Among the many blessings were "special times with my father and brother-the pure joy of quail hunting in remote areas of my beloved Virginia"..."the gifts of athletic competition"..."fellowship with friends and family"...the "true blessing of his grandchildren" and "the greatest gift to me was sending me Ahma....Again I thank the Lord for the many blessings of my life and for the special loved ones who shared these blessings with me."
