Bennie Ray Toms, 74, died Monday. Bennie was born in Bedford, Virginia on June 22, 1940. He was the son of the late Oliver A. Toms and Clara Wood Toms. He was a retired Master Sargeant with the United States Air Force. Bennie was also retired from Carolina Power and Light Company. He was a member of the Goldsboro Elks Lodge #139 B.P.O.E and the Bedford Moose Lodge #1897. Bennie was also a member of Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church. A service to celebrate Bennieâ€™s life was held at 5 PM Friday, April 24, 2015 at Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church with military honors. Rev. Robert Bandy will officiate the service. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Bennie is survived by his wife, Ginny Faulkner Toms; daughter, Robin Pardee and husband Chuck of Williamsburg; his son, Shane Toms and wife Heidi of Florence, SC; sister, Barbara Foster of Rustburg, and his brothers, Carlton Toms and wife Rachel of Bedford, and Daniel Toms and wife Vickie of Bedford. His pride and joy were his grandchildren, Kylie Toms, Ella Toms, Makenna Pardee, Lauryn Pardee and Kyndal Pardee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Shirley Dubuque and Yvonne Thomas.
