Cornelia Everlene Brewer, age 77 of Norfolk died Sunday, June 5, 2016 at Autumn Care of Norfolk. Born Oct. 17, 1938 in Pittsylvania County she was a daughter of the late Odie Thomas Haynes and Vaughnie Talbott Haynes. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Richard Brewer and a grandchild. She was a home maker. Mrs. Brewer was an Honorary Mother for USO Troops and volunteered for many other military organizations. She was a lifetime member of the Lions Club and she served on the board for the Virginia Board for People with Disabilities. She also was a Sunday school teacher at Autumn Care of Norfolk. She is survived by three sons, Charles Brewer and wife, Audrey of Manteo, NC, Billy Brewer and fiancÃ©, Chris Franklin of Hurt and Otto Brewer of Altavista; two daughters, Cookie Batten and husband, Billy of Virginia Beach and Kea Brewer and fiancÃ©, Reggie Witt of Bedford; one sister, Becky Faris and husband, Jessie of Hurt; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Huddleston Church of God of Prophecy by Rev. Ken Lester, Rev. Brady Willis and Mike Russo. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12 to 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at Huddleston Church of God of Prophecy and other times will be at the residence of her sister and brother-in-law, Becky and Jessie Faris. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Huddleston Rescue Squad, 5349 Smith Mountain Lake Parkway, Huddleston, VA 24104.
