Carolyn Van Wagoner, 76, of Bedford, Va. passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones on Friday, May 27, 2016. Born Tuesday, Dec. 26, 1939 in Norfolk, VA, she was a daughter of the late Bryce Wagoner and the late Frances Williams Wagoner. Left to cherish Carolynâ€™s memories are her loving husband, Donald Woods; son, Jack Mann and wife, Lisa; daughters, Holly Layne, Laura Carrington and husband, John, Leslie Hicks and husband, Kirk; five grandchildren, Jason, Jessica, Jake, Isaac, Sarah Frances; four great-grandchildren; brother, Ronald Wagoner and wife, Jenny; sister, Sheryle Hill and husband, Tui; special friend Ann Ship; beloved friend and caretaker, Valerie Agee. Her children will remember the loving, devoted mother who was always there for them. Carolyn was the dedicated manager of her familyâ€™s business, the Peaks of Otter Lodge. She enjoyed traveling, especially to the beach with her girlfriends and family. Even though she suffered from physical pain, her spirit remained bright and bubbly and touched everyone who knew her. A Celebration of Carolynâ€™s Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Tharp Funeral Chapel, Bedford with the Rev. Donnie G. Glass officiating. A graveside service for close friends and family will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2016 in Oakwood Cemetery, 701 Oakwood Avenue, Raleigh, N.C. 27601.
