Charles William “Will” Phillips, 79, died on Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, at his home in Bedford. He was born in Bedford on March 12, 1934, a son of the late William Eldridge Phillips and Lena Bell Orange Phillips. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Margaret Agee Phillips; sisters, Annie Orange, Lillie Robertson; and brothers, Thomas “Owen” Phillips and John Glenwood “Glen” Phillips. He was also preceded in death by his special animal friend, Frisky. He is survived by his daughter, Margaret Wilcher; granddaughter, Sherry Crawford and her long-time boyfriend, Michael “Adam” Caldwell; sisters, Lelia White, Ida Karnes, and Lucille Isenhour; a brother, Bobby Phillips. Will was an employee of the Peaks of Otter maintenance department from his teenage years until he retired approximately 20 years ago. A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 17, at Greenwood Cemetery. Arranements by Burch-Messier Walnut Street Location, 1235 Walnut Street, Bedford , 540-586-7360.
