Dorothy Lincke Harlow Savage, 81, of Bedford, passed away Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012 at the Elks National Home. Born Dec. 16, 1930, in Raleigh, NC; she was a daughter of the late Virgil Wilfred Harlow and the late Evelyn Frances Lincke Harlow. Many remember Dot for her years of service working as an LPN at the office of Dr. Jenrette and Dr. Wenger and Physicians Associates. Dot was a graduate of Hopewell High School and a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, the Red Hat Society, Ginter Park Junior Womenâ€™s Club, and a former member of Women of the Moose. In addition to her parents, Dot was preceded in death by her husband, Preston Stewart Savage. She is survived by her children; Julie Parker of Bedford, Stewart Savage and wife, Carolyn of Lynchburg, and Vann Savage and wife, Linda of Bedford, grandchildren; Jamie H.P. Fitting and husband, Douglass, Kelly J. Mayhew and husband, Chris, Michael D. Mason, and Robert T. Mason and wife, Paula, and great-grandchildren; Morgan Fitting, Haylee Mayhew, Lane Mayhew, Evan Mason, and Andy Mason. The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to the Special Care Staff at the Elks National Home. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice. Funeral services will be conducted 11 am, Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, in the Chapel of Tharp Funeral Home with Rev. Bart Weakley and Rev. Jack Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, from 6 to 8 pm at Tharp Funeral Home.
