Earl Ashby Cocke, Sr., 80, of Bedford passed away on Monday, March 11, 2013 at Bedford Memorial Hospital. Born in Bedford, Co. on May 10, 1932, a son of the late Roy Webster Cocke and Carrie Noell Cocke. In addition to his parents Earl was preceded in death by a son, Earl Ashby Cocke, Jr.; a sister, Violet Bell and a brother Vernon Cocke. Earl served his country for 21-Â½ years in the United States Army in the core of Engineers. He loved the outdoors and hunting especially, deer and rabbits. He was a member of the Elks National Lodge, American Legion post 16 and the VFW. Earl is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy Cocke, three children, Lou Nelson, Bill Cocke and his wife, Linda and Timothy Cocke; four grandchildren, Selina Patten, Christopher Patten, William Ed Cocke and Keith Edward Cocke; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; three sisters, Inez Cocke, Frances Grigg and Marie White; also numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. A Graveside service to celebrate Earlâ€™s life was conducted at 11 AM on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church Cemetery.
