Elizabeth â€œBeth or Bessâ€ Ward McGavock, 66, of Roanoke, died at RMH Sunday, September 15, 2013. She was predeceased by her parents, James H. McGavock and Lorene Ward McGavock Wade. She is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Margaret "Gret" Kidd and Mahlon C. Kidd of Fincastle; a niece Jane Ching (Douglas) of Mililani, HI, a niece Sarah Muse (Chris) of Roanoke and grand nephews Vedant Muse and Logan Ching. Miss McGavock graduated from Virginia Western Community College and Lynchburg College with a BA in History which she loved to share with others by teaching classes and tutoring. She made her home at Eastwood Assisted Living at Friendship Retirement Community and was an active member of Emmanuel Wesleyan Church. Although her life was difficult she never let her disabilities affect her attitude toward life. Her courage and good nature inspired those around her and her strong heart made an impact on everyone she met. A Memorial Service was held Friday, Sept. 20th at 10 am at Emmanuel Wesleyan Church, 402 Hershberger Rd NW, Roanoke, VA 24012.
