Elwood Strode Angus, 79, of Bedford, departed this life peacefully at his home Friday, Oct. 30, 2015, surrounded by his wife Betty and children. He was a U.S. Navy veteran who proudly served his country aboard the U.S.S. Shasta. He was a former employee of Rubatex for 18 years but he left to do what he loved, farming. He loved hunting, fishing and his John Deere tractors. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Hattie Angus. Elwood is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Betty Noell Angus; his four children, Calvin Angus (Anne); Rhonda Lavoie (Charlie); Nancy Carter (Timmy); Larry Angus (Becky); four grandchildren, Crystal Kennedy (Robin); Tiffany Wood, Thomas Kennedy (Jessica); Dakota Carter (Courtney); Sister, Corene Coleman (Clinton); brother, James Angus (Ofelia) and sister-in-law, Peggy Noell and many other loving family members and friends. A graveside service was held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2015 at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church Cemetery. The family wishes to thank Centra Bedford Hospice and Dr. Thomas Eppes, for their loving care.
