Everett O. Burnett, 81, passed away on Jan. 21, 2016 at Lynchburg General Hospital and went to be with his Lord and Savior. He was born in Bedford County on Saturday July 7, 1934 a son of the late Ewell and Mary Fogel Burnett. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Warren E. Burnett, a daughter, Debbie B. Lodge and his brothers, Bill, Joseph and Charles Burnett. He was a loving, caring, hard-working family man known as “Granddaddy” and will be deeply missed by everyone. Everett is survived by his wife Etta D. Burnett of 62 years; son, William O. Burnett (wife, Cathie), daughter, Donnetta B. Toms (husband, Dennis); grandchildren, Lauren B. Keeney, Lindsay B. Gortman(husband, Justin), Michael Overstreet (wife, Jennifer), Travis Overstreet, Alison Overstreet, Matthew Toms; great grandchildren, Anna Grace Overstreet, Colombiana Mae Sorber; brothers, James Burnett, Harvey (wife, Edna) Burnett, Ray, (wife, Hazel) Burnett and a sister, Mollie Burnett Catron. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 27, at Burch-Messier Walnut St. Chapel, 1235 Walnut Street, with Rev. Jeane Dunkum and Rev. David Whitehurst officiating.
