Helen Gray Mills, age 81 of Montvale, lost her battle with cancer on Oct. 19, 2013. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Wesley Mills, parents, George W. Gray, Sr. and Mabel S. Gray; brother, George W. Gray, Jr, and sisters, Marie A. Gray and Dorothy Thompson. She is survived by her daughters, Karen K. Bivens and son in-law, P.K. of Roanoke; Linda K. Seible and son in-law, Wes, of Fincastle; Lisa M. Ryan and son in-law Tony, of Bedford; Sons Charles L. Kennedy, of Baltimore, MD; Tim W. Kennedy and daughter in-law Kathy of Roanoke; her loving Grandchildren, Jennifer Lockard, of Troutville; Lindsey Brooks, of Roanoke; Mark Brooks, of Richmond; Adam Kennedy, of Houston TX.; Ryan and Kaitlyn Kennedy, of Roanoke; her precious Great- Grandchildren, Alexis Jones and Blake Lockard; sister in-law, Anna Lee Whaley; aunt, Frances Mills, and many loving nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special note of gratitude to Frances for her endless love and support throughout our mother’s sickness, and to Joyce Cahoon, for being there for mom as her dedicated and life-long friend. We would also like to extend our appreciation to the nurses and employees of The Elks National Home, Bedford, and to Good Samaritan Hospice for their excellent care and support. Funeral services will be held 1 P.M. Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, at Oakey’s East Chapel with Pastor Kevin Cummings officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice, 2408 Electric Rd., Roanoke, VA 24018. Arrangements by Oakey’s East Chapel.
