James Louis Welch, 65, of Bedford died, Tuesday, March 11, 2014. He was born in Riverdale, MD on July 18, 1948. He is preceded in death by his father, Wesley Overstreet; Sr.; two brothers, Eugene Welch and Ronnie Overstreet; two step-children, Susie and Loretta Overstreet. James was the owner of Welch’s Pump and Well and was a member of Cool Spring Pentecostal Holiness Church. James was a licensed minister of the Appalachian Conference of the Pentecostal Holiness Church serving in the Prison Ministry for 33 years with Rev. John Spinner. He is survived by his mother, Artie Welch Overstreet; his wife, Edna M. Welch; daughter, Pam Shepherd and husband, Tim; his step-children, Danny (Sharon) Overstreet, Edward Burks Overstreet, Jr. and Wayne (Kelly) Overstreet; eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; his brothers, Wesley (Renee) Overstreet, Jr. and Donald (Janice) Overstreet; his sisters, Diane (Jimmy) Carter and Jeannette (Wallace) Harding. Memorials may be made to a charity of your choice. A funeral service was held 2 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Cool Spring Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Larry Myers officiating.
