Kathleen Harris Ellis, 83 of Moneta, passed away Monday, Sept. 9, 2013 at her residence. She was born on Friday, June 27, 1930 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Clarence Pitman Harris and Emma Lillian Mayhew Harris. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Coolidge Ellis. She was a retired seamstress at Moneta Dress Factory and was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Surviving is her son, Douglas Ellis and friend, Ann Rigney of Moneta; three brothers, C. W. Harris and wife, Shirley of Lynchburg, Melvin Harris and wife, Mimie of Huddleston, Charles Pitman Harris and wife, Flo of Moneta; four sisters, Betty Phillips and friend, Bill Wattai of Norfolk, Vivian Cassell and husband, Carl of Madison Heights, Donna Wright and husband, Wayne of Lynchburg, Peggy Johnson and husband, Wayne of Moneta and a special nephew, Jason Johnson of Moneta. Funeral services was held on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013 at 2 pm at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Rev. Melvin Harris officiating. Interment followed in Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery.
