Louis Walker, 83 of Bedford, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at the Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was born on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 1931 in Bedford County, a son of the late Linwood Walker and Minnie Mitchell Walker. Louis was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served during the Korean Conflict and he retired from VDOT as a superintendent. He is survived by his wife, Helen F. Walker of Bedford; three sons, Randy L. Walker and wife, Brenda of Bedford, Donald "Duck" Walker of Bedford, Jeffrey "Jody" Walker of Bedford; a daughter, Wanda Massie of Lynchburg, five grandchildren, Jeremy Walker and wife, Rachel, Shannon Walker and wife, Crystal, Amanda Robinette and husband, Josh, Michael Massie, Bryan Massie and wife, Felicia, four great-grandchildren, Kayla Walker, Gavin Walker, Alyssa Walker, Caleb Robinette; two brothers, Rufus Walker of Bonsack, Leroy Walker of Moneta; two sisters, Reva W. Stanley of Mineral, Sue W. Ferguson of Huddleston. Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 11 am at Updike Funeral Home Chapel, Bedford. with Rev. Wayne Murphy officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
