Frankie Lerner Puckett was notified that her sister, Mildred Lerner, died in Schertz, Texas, on Sept. 29, 2014, after a long and difficult battle with an aggressive cancer. She was the daughter of Lyle Thomas Lerner and Mary Harris Lerner of Lynchburg. Born on July 22, 1942, she is survived by two daughters, Kim Broadway and husband, Monty Broadway, and Nichole Leisure Newlan and husband, Chris Kelker Newlan; four granddaughters and one grandson, and two great granddaughters and two great grandsons. Family and friends held a day of remembrance for Millie on Oct. 4, 2014. She was grateful for the excellent care, kindness, support, and comfort provided by VITAS Innovative Hospice during the final stages of the disease. She had a relationship with the Ronald McDonald House in San Antonio as a manager, volunteer, and/or part time employee for twenty years and the family requests that any memorials should be sent to the new Ronald McDonald House Building Fund at the following address: Ronald McDonald House, Attn: Pat Bivin, Ref: Building Fund, 4803 Sid Katz, San Antonio, TX 78229.
