Nancy Parrish Parr, 74, of Bedford, VA, died peacefully at her home Friday, Jan. 16, 2015. Born Nancy Leah Parrish Oct. 10, 1940, in Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Mabel Burnette Parrish and Charles Ellie Parrish. She graduated from Bedford High School and worked for almost 25 years for Rubatex Corp. Pimarily in its Quality Control Laboratories. She was a life-long member of Bedford Christian Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir for many years. A devoted wife and mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roger John Parr. She is survived by her sister, Fannie Parrish Ward of Lexington, SC; her son, Bryan Parr and his wife, Joyce Parr of Bedford; her daughter, Deborah Gross and her husband, Daniel Gross of Mechanicsville, MD; her grandchildren, Courtney Parker, Kyler Parr, Kirsten Parr, Hannah Gross and Alan Gross; and great-grandchild, Cameron Shepherd. A funeral service was held 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19, 2015 at Burch-Messier Walnut Street Chapel with Rev. David Whitehurst and Rev. Jim Compton officiating. Burial followed in Greenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Bedford, Bedford Christian Church Building Fund or the Bedford Life Saving Crew in memory of her father. Arrangements by Burch-Messier Funeral Home, Bedford.
