Peter D. Holland Jr., 88, of Jefferson, Pennsylvania, formerly of Moneta, Virginia, died on March 8, 2015, in his home. He was born March 9, 1926, the son of the late Peter Davis and Thelma Woodford Holland of Moneta. Mr. Holland served with the U.S. Army Air Corps, was a former post master in the Moneta Post Office, worked as a U.S. postal inspector, and was a member of Bedford Lodge 244 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, Bedford, Va. He was a charter member of the Moneta Rescue Squad and former member of Morgans Baptist Church. In addition to his parents and one brother, he was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Sarah Turner Holland. He is survived by six daughters, Charlotte (Dale) Creasy, Betty Sue (Don) Cressman, Sarah Jane Morgan, Mary Hope (Sean) Delaney, Margaret Palmer, and Kathryn (Cole) Howell, his sister Rebecca H. Dowell, fifteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition, he is survived by his second wife, Bessie, her children and their families. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Mission to the World, Acct #11823, P.O. Box 2589, Suwanee, GA 30024-0982 the organization through which one of his granddaughters and her family serve as missionaries in Peru.
