Rufus Dwight Orange, Sr., 64, of Bedford, died Thursday, June 21, 2012 at his residence. He was born Feb. 16, 1948 in Bedford County a son of Irene Overstreet Orange and Rufus Cosby Orange. Rufus was a U.S. Army veteran. He loved hunting, fishing and being around people. In addition to his parents, Rufus is survived by his wife of 41 years, Erma M. Orange; three children, Kim Howell and her husband, Kenny, Andrea Orange and her husband, Kenny, and Rufus â€œDwightâ€ Orange, Jr. and his wife, Jennifer all of Bedford; six grandchildren, Corey Orange and his wife, Amber, Jessica Brown and her husband, Rocky, Candace Orange, Joshua Howell, Morgan Orange and Madison Orange; one great-grandson, Blake Orange; two sisters, Barbara Bess and her husband, Norm of Richmond and Bettysue Orange of Roanoke; one brother, Jimmy Lee Orange of Bedford; and numerous other family and friends. Memorial contributions may be made to Bible Truth Tabernacle Building Fund, 850 E. Main St., Bedford, VA 24523. A celebration of Rufusâ€™s life was conducted at 11 a.m., Monday, June 25, 2012 at Tharp Funeral Chapel with Pastor Wayne E. Lawhorn officiating. Burial followed in Holy Land Cemetery.
