Serge Popper, 83, of Goode passed away peacefully Thursday, April 24, 2014 after a long, courageous and creative battle with cancer. He was the loving husband of Anne-Riely Popper for 27 years. Born Oct. 10, 1930 in Bucharest, Romania, he was the son of Belina Saraga Popper and Emil Popper. Serge graduated from New York Military Academy in 1948 and Iona College in 1953. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force. He worked for many years as a producer in a variety of settings and retired from Disney Imagineering to become a Virginia gentleman farmer. In addition to his wife he leaves to cherish his memory a daughter, Jennifer Terrell Popper of Goode; a brother, Alex Popper and wife, Priscilla of Blowing Rock, NC; two sisters-in-law, Terrell Fitzgerald and husband, Rick and Claudia Patterson and husband, Tulane all of Lynchburg; seven nieces; two nephews and a great nephew. A Celebration of Sergeâ€™s Life will be conducted 3 p.m., Sunday, May 11, 2014 in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Service 427 Graves Mill Road Lynchburg, VA with the Rev. Todd M. Vie officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
